Write a few brief notes in your blog about what you found the most interesting/ surprising in this article - even in the recession advertising is still profitable - cultural messages can make you behave certain ways - 83% of adds only utilize sight - retailers are starting to utilize sound in their stores to influence people - negative sounds can be just as powerful as positive sounds Now, Based on what you've observed, choose one of your self portraits that you want to continue to develop the idea further. Eventually you will create an animated/documentary video segment about this portrait. What sounds will you want to include? How will these sounds enhance/ showcase your vision? What type of feeling do you want your viewer to experience? When developing my self-portrait further with sounds, I think I may want to animate it it in the style of a pink panther cartoon. There are no words in the shorts, but the background soundtrack still tells the story. Through the various sounds used, different emotions are effectively conveyed. I will want to include sounds that emphasize the separation of my face and give an upbeat vibe. These sounds will showcase my vision by emphasizing the actions that are occurring on screen. Through these sounds, I want the viewer to experience a visceral reaction as the deconstruction of the portrait occurs. I want the sound and imagery to pair together to create a story. The viewer should get a sense of narrative through the sound.

Belinda smil'd, and all the world was gay. All but the Sylph—with careful thoughts opprest, Th' impending woe sat heavy on his breast. He summons strait his denizens of air; The lucid squadrons round the sails repair: Soft o'er the shrouds aerial whispers breathe, That seem'd but zephyrs to the train beneath. Some to the sun their insect-wings unfold, Waft on the breeze, or sink in clouds of gold. Transparent forms, too fine for mortal sight, Their fluid bodies half dissolv'd in light, Loose to the wind their airy garments flew, Thin glitt'ring textures of the filmy dew; Dipp'd in the richest tincture of the skies, Where light disports in ever-mingling dyes, While ev'ry beam new transient colours flings, Colours that change whene'er they wave their wings. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_lgkcbCtQs What is the name of the company/ organization you are choosing? - Shaw's Hotel, which is the oldest family owned hotel on Prince Edward Island. What are they currently doing for advertising? What does one of their ads look like? - They don't really have an ad campaign. They have a website, an Instagram, and a Facebook, but that's about it. Their website has a retro feel, which makes sense given how old the hotel is. What is their overall CAMPAIGN? (what is their "course of action" for promoting their product/mission long term)? - They don't really seem to have any sort of ad campaign. What do you propose to change? - I propose to create an ad campaign that will make the hotel more recognizable and attract new customers. Who will be your target audience? - The target audience is a mix between retirees, families, and newlyweds. How will your campaign benefit the company? - The campaign will attract new customers that would never have otherwise known about the hotel and keep the previous customers. How do you plan on visually representing this idea? Draw up a quick sketch on paper and take a picture and post it in your blog post. Here are some examples from their current website.
